On September 30, 2011, The President of the United States, President Obama addressed the nation with the news that U.S. Air attacks in the town of Yemeni killed an American born militant cleric Anwar al-Awlaki. Born in the state of New Mexico in 1971, Awlaki was a U.S. citizen. He was a graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in civil engineering an held a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of San Diego State.
The Yemeni-American had been in the U.S. crosshairs since his killing was approved by President Obama in April 2010. This action was the first of it kind in the history of our country, Awlaki was placed on the CIA’s “kill or capture” list. With neighbor’s like Awlaki, we not need to look across the water to locate our enemy. They live right next door.
As an America and had served our wonderful country, the emotions that come over me are anger, disappointment, sadness and then happiness. I would imagine that some of you would have some similar thoughts. Please let me know what you are your thoughts.
